An outcast from the onset of her teen years, Marre has always been different, dancing to the beat of her own drum. Bouncing from one school to the next, she searched for her personal path to success as a gifted young woman. Obsessed with music for as long as she can remember, she came to understand school was not the answer so she dropped out of college and began to pursue her dream.
Since that day, Marre has been unstoppable. Like a freight train crashing down the barriers of Latin pop music, her new album, Sombras de Luz, redefines the genre. With songwriting that belies her age, 20-year-old Marre explores herself and the world surrounding her with astonishing depth and uniqueness. From the pure fun of Noche de Fiesta to the heavily introspective Me Equivoque, and the full range of emotions and passions in between, she delivers an incomparable, personal, yet universal, musical adventure.
Marre set the stage for Sombras de Luz with the release of her first self-titled album, which spawned three chart singles – Qué Pasó, Mas y Más and Cada Vez. On the success of that album she toured incessantly, performing and promoting her work. She has developed a devoted fan base and a strong Internet presence through her personal involvement with all aspects of her career.
Along the way Marre has found time to give back to her community at home and around the world. She is the spokesperson for the MTV/Inter-American Development Bank campaign for safer teenage driving as well as for the Best Buddies Foundation that creates opportunities for one-to-one friendships and integrated employment and leadership development for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. MTV recognized her for her philanthropic contributions by presenting her with the 2011 MTV Chiuku Award. Past recipients include Shakira and Wyclef Jean.on
